Armor news from Thailand and Poland....

From Thailand, we see this interesting 8x8 vehicle called the Black Widow Spider.  A collaboration between Thailand's Defense Technology Institute and Ricardo of the UK....

Another instance of modern armor thats showing up in the Pacific.

Next we have the Polish Armed Forces testing out the Rheinmetall MBT Revolution for their Leopard 2A4 upgrade program....

I find this all fascinating.

With the exception of the Western powers, every other force on the planet is in the midst of well planned upgrades of their entire force structure.

No imbalance.  No total focus on simply getting one airplane into service and the hell with the rest of the force.  The future is bleak if my worst fears are confirmed.  The Chinese hacked the F-35, and either planted a trojan horse in the programing or detected a fatal flaw and every advantage in network centric warfare along with stealth vanishes in the first day of combat.

Never has the US military placed all its eggs into one basket.  The F-35 basket seems extremely fragile.

  1. Obama stated the American era is over. The US will not need to have a military if we are in decline.
The democrats do not plan on fighting China or anyone the US is going back to the third world with a fifth rate military that way the world will be safe from US military adventures.
These clowns believe this enough to drop their guard and wander off down some socialist paradise not caring who runs the world.
Self destruction it's what democrats love unfortunately they wish every American to join in.
Obama will surrender to China after a show of force that the Chinese will gladly wipe out giving democrats a reason to roll over and quit.
These folks do not mind if we are all Chinese subjects they know they will still be in charge.
At least till the Chinese begin the purge.

The USA possesses 2,000+ active M1A1 and M1A2 abrams'

That Thai 8x8 looks to be pretty by the numbers.

    1. Germany is hardly a force that should be imitated. they're turning into what can best be described as a homeland security army. from the looks of things they're almost designing a force that can be used in its own borders for security rather than combat.

the better question is how many does the UK, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy have combined. looking at the European countries as single entities is dangerous. they always fight as parts of coalitions with the exception of France and the UK when it comes to small wars.

    2. Interoperability among EU militaries are not that good. I mean you can't put Polish Army and German Heer units together and expect them to execute joint missions. There is no such thing as European led military coalition. US military strength lies with so-called force multipliers: tanker, cargo plane, c4isr, helicopter transport, uav, etc. Without those critical assets, you can wage a modern style military campaigns. What good is a tank is it's not strategically deployable or without sufficient air cover once it arrives to the battlefield?
